What I want to talk about today is a little contrarian. I am going to advise to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing.

You see, I get asked all the time…

“Stefan, I’m stuck. What do I do?”

If you’re stuck, there is is one cure for you, one way that you can get out of anything. If sometimes is not working for you, here’s the secret: do the opposite.

I have a story in my book Self Made. Years ago I was a very, very unsuccessful musician. I was cheap, I was greedy.

I have a thing called the fist of greed, and I had every dollar, I was holding onto it as hard as I could. I was so greedy and I was so cheap.

I went out on a weekend with some friends I didn’t really know that well. What I decided to do was open my hand up and become generous.

I decided I got $100 to live on for a couple days, and rather than holding onto this 100 bucks and trying to eat at McDonald’s and have $1 cheeseburgers the whole weekend by myself, I was going to open my hand, open my first of greed, and spend my money as generously as I can, and be as grateful to people as possible, and say as many thank yous as possible.

What ended up happening to me … Long story short. We don’t have time to tell the whole story, but at the end of the weekend I actually had 40 bucks left.

I had eaten my breakfast, lunches and dinners. Everybody else ended up buying me breakfast, lunch and dinner because I was so generous, so gracious, so much gratitude.

I was pushing out so much energy that even more was coming back to me.

That takes me back to the tip, guys. The tip is if something isn’t working, try the opposite.

Because typically, if your way is unsuccessful, the opposite direction is probably the successful way.

Now go give it a try. Send me your stories about how it works for you. I guarantee it’s going to work.

Respect The Grind,

Stefan Aarnio
