How can you get paid what you are worth?

Here’s a very interesting mathematical thing, I heard once you are always earning 1/16 of your actual potential.

If you want to figure out what you are actually worth, take what you’re earning now and multiply it by 16, that’s what you should be making.

The problem is, nobody can pay you what you are worth, no employer can ever pay that. I remember Tim Horton’s which is a Canadian coffee and doughnut chain.

I was pouring coffee and doughnuts making $6.50 and hour and I felt like I wasn’t earning my worth.

I wanted more money.

I wanted to be making 16 times that.

In reality guys, nobody can ever pay you what you’re worth. If you want to get paid what you’re truly worth, you have to go into business for yourself and become an entrepreneur.

Now I’m going to warn you, there’s a huge warning here.

Entrepreneurship is not really for everybody. It’s not something that is for everybody.

It’s a tough game, that’s why I wear the “Respect The Grind” wristband here. I’m respecting the grind.

Entrepreneurs have to wake up everyday and work probably way harder than anybody with a job.

I’ve heard it before, entrepreneurship is working 80 hours a week, so you don’t have to work 40 hours a week for somebody else.

You do get all the rewards.

You get all the risk, you get everything being an entrepreneur.

You do determine if you do get paid what you are worth.

You know what? If you can survive 10 years in entrepreneurship I can almost guarantee you, you’ll be affluent if you’re growing through the whole period.

If you do 10 years, if every year is the same you’re probably not going to be doing that well.

If you want to earn what you’re truly worth, you’ve got to take a step in the direction of entrepreneurship and that’s where you need to go.

If you’re cool at your job and you’re more of a security based person maybe you should stay over there, because guess what guys?

Entrepreneurship is a jungle, it’s dark, it’s scary and not everybody lives to tell about it.

Respect The Grind,

Stefan Aarnio
